About Explorers

Explorers (boys and girls) are the last youth section in the scouting family. Explorers are typically 14 – 18 years old. Explorer scouts work towards their Queen Scouts Award and/or their Duke of Edinburgh award scheme by achieving various badges through participating in a wide range of activities. For more information please visit the scouts.org.uk website

Sharman Explorers

Explorers are a District run Section, however many operate under Partnership Agreements with Scout Groups across the Cotswold Edge District. The Sharman Explorers have their partnership agreement with 1st Woodend Scout Group. This agreement allows the Sharman Explorers to have full use of 1st Woodend’s facilities and equipment. 1st Woodend Scouts normally ‘move up’ to this section, with some returning back to the Group as Young Leaders while they work to complete the Service elements of the Explorer Badge work.
